Established in 1993, this Company has built their business and reputation on 4 major lines: Parsnip, Turnip, Swede, Beetroot, and more recently Daikon Radish. To best undertake product development, they listen to and learn from suppliers, growers, and customers to stay ahead of the competition. In line with their determination to keep the business strong, vibrant, and sustainable, they are seeking a highly motivated Farms Manager with significant hands-on experience to join the team.


Reporting to the Managing Director(MD), the Farms Manager is a hands-on role that leads, inspires and manages a small farm team over multiple sites to ensure the effective operation of the farms to optimise yield in a sustainable and efficient manner. The Farms Manager will work closely with the MD to plan the overall growing operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the optimum success of the vegetable crops grown and responsible for implementing the annual farm plan
  • Supervise field rotations and land management and the planning of sowing, planting, irrigation scheduling and harvest and post-harvest programs
  • Coordinate and lead farm staff as per production requirements
  • Identification of diseases, pests and weeds in the crops
  • Stock management and procurement of inputs e.g. chemical, seed, and fertiliser
  • Liaise with the packing shed and the sales team to maximise the product value and meeting consumer demands

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in the management of intensive horticulture production under irrigation
  • Sound knowledge of agronomy, and experience in plant nutrition, pest and weed control
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in leadership and the day-to-day supervision of a small team
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Experience in report writing and maintaining paddock records


  • Post-secondary qualifications in Agriculture, Horticulture or Farm Management is desirable
  • ChemCert accreditation
  • Forklift licence and truck licence (HR or higher)
