Farm Manager – SM2949

This company has been farming macadamias in Queensland for over 30 years. Their established nut orchard covers almost 250ha with over 150,000 trees. As caretakers of the land, they strive to use integrated orchard management methods with the aim of improving soils and achieving higher yields.


Reporting to the Director, the Farm Manager will be responsible for all areas of the day-to-day management of the farm and developing and implementing operational and development plans, budgets and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement operational/development plans, budgets and WH&S
  • Lead, train and support the team to deliver operation and strategic plans
  • Develop an integrated nutrition plan, soil strategy and irrigation strategy that will increase production and yield
  • Assist to monitor and schedule irrigation
  • Ensure all plant and equipment is managed and operated appropriately

Skills and Experience

  • Extensive leadership experience in the day-to-day operations of a large horticultural enterprise, preferably tree crop and nursery production
  • Budgeting and financial management experience
  • Staff management skills with sound understanding of WH&S
  • Knowledge of plant nutrition, irrigation and pest and disease management
  • Horticultural plant and equipment knowledge
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as required to get the job done.


  • Qualifications in agriculture, horticulture, viticulture or similar will be highly regarded
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Chem Cert or equivalent
  • Forklift Licence preferred but not essential
