This Rural Merchandise outlet is 100% owned by local blueberry growers. This Cooperative facilitates the packing and distribution of berries grown in the Coffs Coast region for domestic and export markets, and the rural store has a strategy of growth to be the “one stop shop” for all local berry growers and cooperative members.

The blueberry industry has grown dramatically and is still expanding, with 80% of blueberries coming from the Coffs Coast region making this an exceptional and exciting role for someone wanting to be involved in a progressive and growing industry.

Position

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and based at the Woolgoolga Store, the Rural Store Manager will achieve financial objectives, assist in preparing an annual budget, schedule expenditure and analyse variances and initiate corrective actions.

Main duties include leadership and mentoring the team, supporting key clients in the effective and efficient retail service delivery for this rural merchandise store.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a strategic business plan, that incorporates all shareholder initiatives
  • Maintain technical skills of the team to provide accurate agronomic advice
  • Lead the retail team
  • Maintain effective relations with key suppliers and grower clients
  • Manage logistics, stock control and product inventory
  • Negotiate with suppliers and agents to source the most cost-effective prices
Skills and Experience
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a rural merchandise/supplies business
  • Previous experience managing a rural retail sales team
  • Previous experience with tracking budget expenses and pricing
  • Strong sales and customer service skills to maintain grower relationships
  • Computer skills, with Microsoft Office and relevant point of sale systems

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary qualifications in Agriculture, Horticulture or Business Management would be desirable, but are not essential
  • Current Forklift licence is required

Remuneration
