Our Client

This company is a privately-owned macadamia enterprise with an aim to produce premium nut in shell and kernel for Domestic and International markets through management procedures that are formulated with long-term sustainability in mind.

The company manage 6,000 acres of macadamia orchards in Queensland with plans to double production within the next 10-15 years.

Position

The Post-Harvest Manager will lead the Operations Manager, as well as a group of Sorting Shed Managers and post-harvest research staff, across five sorting sheds located across Queensland.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the post-harvest management of the macadamia nuts is conducted in accordance with best practice procedures and will ensure that quality issues are researched and reported on in an accurate and timely manner.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage over-all performance of company sorting sheds to ensure operational and quality targets are achieved
  • Prepare operational schedules and coordinate post-harvest activities
  • Manage permanent and casual staff to ensure safety and performance standards
  • Design and implement shed automation (including temperature and humidity sensors, colour sorters and data collection)
  • Guide and supervise post-harvest research projects
  • Identify other quality issues that require attention
  • Generate frequent and up-to-date reports for Directors and General Managers


Skills and Experience

  • Experience managing large-scale fresh produce packing operations
  • Experience managing both casual and permanent teams
  • Logistical skills to efficiently manage packing shed operations
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and team leadership skills


Qualifications

  • A current driver’s licence
  • Tertiary qualifications in horticulture, business, supply chain management or similar would be highly advantageous


Remuneration
