Job Description

Located 30kms North of Goondiwindi, our client has rapidly become a thriving business servicing the local region and beyond and has been farming in the area for over 15 years, currently operating 12,000 hectares of cropping dryland sorghum, wheat, chickpeas and barley. The commodities complex can store up to 75,000 tonnes of grain at any time through the use of bunkers and silos. In addition, the transport complex consists of 4 Mack prime movers to be set up as either singles, B-doubles, road trains or grain tippers. Owned and operated by passionate locals, our client is a professionally managed company, committed to delivering quality customer service in a timely manner.


As a newly created role, the Maintenance Manager will be required to prepare, implement and oversee the day-to-day operations of the workshop to ensure the timely operation of all plant and machinery. Through liaison with the Director, the Maintenance Manager will also be required to develop and implement a maintenance program for all machinery, ensuring high standards of operation in the workshop are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out repairs and maintenance of machinery and plant in an efficient and effective manner for the transport, farm and grain handling divisions
  • Develop a preventative maintenance program for machinery, plant and equipment
  • Control and record stock inventory of oils, parts and repairs assigned by management
  • Provide training to freight drivers / operators on identification of faults to ensure longevity
  • Manage data collection on individual machine service history
  • Follow company policy and procedures in all aspects of WHS

Skills and Experience

  • Extensive hands-on maintenance experience with trucks, prime movers and trailers, as well as agricultural equipment used in broadacre cropping operations
  • Sound experience with the use of Oxy, MIG and Arc welding equipment
  • Proficient computer skills using various PC based servicing tools, GPS and digital software with minimal training
  • The ability to initiate preventative action and implement new initiatives


  • A recognised mechanical trade certificate in diesel or automotive disciplines
  • A current MR or HR Drivers Licence (ideally Heavy Rigid)
