Job Description

- Established citrus operation

- Career growth opportunity

- Riverina NSW

This enterprise was developed from a greenfield site into a family-owned and operated citrus orchard spanning 200ha. With first plantings beginning in 2011, the business chose to focus on the production of easy-peel mandarins, mid-late season navels, seedless lemons and valencias.

The property was then purchased by an agricultural investment group in late 2017 as their first investment into the Australian market, however, the property remains operated by the original owners.

The orchard places emphasis on the implementation of new technology, as well as upholding strict quality assurance standards. This enterprise boasts a state-of-the-art packing and storage facility. This is a new and exciting role in a growing business.

Reporting to the Asset Manager, the Orchard Supervisor is responsible for co-ordinating all orchard operations to maximise efficiency of the overall operation.

This is a hands-on role in which the Orchard Supervisor will lead field and contract staff to complete daily orchard activities and ensure all facets of the WH&S, quality assurance and human resource plan are adhered to.

  • In conjunction with the Asset Manager, plan and supervise all day-to-day orchard activities and operations
  • Plan and implement irrigation and fertigation programs
  • Schedule and supervise all harvest operations
  • Oversee the repairs and preventative maintenance programs
  • Ensure accurate and comprehensive farm records and reports are maintained

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ hand-on experience working within an orchard operation (preferably citrus)
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, train and motivate staff
  • Irrigation scheduling and fertigation experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound computer literacy (irrigation software and record management)

  • Post-secondary qualifications in horticulture or management (desirable but not essential)

An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated to reflect skills and experience.
